The Dartboard

  • Number Slices: The board is divided into 20 numbered segments, each worth its displayed face value.

  • Outer Ring: Landing a dart in the thin outer ring doubles the segment's value.

  • Inner Ring: Landing a dart in the thin inner ring triples the segment's value.

  • Bullseye: The center of the board. The outer green ring is worth 25 points, and the inner red circle (double bull) is worth 50 points.

Standard Game: 501

Most professional matches and classic pub games are variations of "X01" (usually 501 for adults and 301 for beginners). Use the iPad, white board or free dart scoreboard app to score your match.

  • The Objective: Each player begins with 501 points. You take turns throwing three darts per round, subtracting the points you score from your current total.

  • Double Out: To win, a player must reduce their score to exactly zero. However, the very last dart you throw must land in a double ring (or the inner bullseye).

  • Busting: If you score more points than your remaining total (or leave exactly 1 point, making it impossible to finish on a double), your round is "bust". Your score resets to what it was at the start of that turn, and your turn ends.

  • Beginners: We recommend straight out. That is if you have 15 left, hit 15 and you win.

Common Variations

If you want to switch things up, there are several other popular dart games:

  • Cricket: A strategic game where players "own" and "close" numbers from 15 through 20 plus the bullseye. The goal is to score the most points by hitting these numbers three times while preventing your opponent from doing the same. This game is on the ipad.

  • Around the World: Players take turns trying to hit every number on the board sequentially from 1 through 20 for beginners & experienced players add the green & red bulls eye. The first player to hit the all wins. Extra rule, Doubles skip 2 number & triples skip 3 numbers. Write this one up on the white boards.
